Contemporary English Department

At this school, in order to achieve the human resource development goals written in the “Foreign Language Education Philosophy”, we are looking for the types of students listed below.

  1. People who have a strong interest in foreign languages and other cultures in a globalized society.
  2. People who want to acquire broad communication skills in foreign languages.
  3. People who want to acquire comprehensive resourcefulness from different and wide points of view.

Basic policy for the selection of new students

Through a varied elective system, we accept students who have cooperativeness, independence, curiosity, expression skills, motivation to learn, leadership, logical thinking skills, and comprehension skills, in addition to basic academic abilities cultivated up through high school.

General Admission Exam (A schedule, B schedule)
From the three testing areas of “English”, “Japanese”, and “Geography, History, and Social Studies”, the students test in two or three of the subjects (“English” is mandatory) and are evaluated on their basic academic abilities and logical thinking skills.

Scholarship Admission Exam
We will financially support academically and personally oustanding students who understand this school’s education philosophy and goals, and have the passion and motivation to study at this university. From the three testing areas of “English”, “Japanese”, and “Geography, History, and Social Studies”, the students test in two or three of the subjects (“English” is mandatory) and are evaluated on their basic academic abilities and logical thinking skills.

Center University Admissions Exam
The Center University Admissions Exam is considered to have the main purpose of judging the amount of basic academic achievements at the high school level in the admissions applicants. From the wider subject range in the Center University Admissions Exam, the students test in two subjects (“foreign language” is mandatory) and are evaluated on their basic academic abilities and logical thinking skills.

Admissions Exam for Candidates Selected By Recommendation
In the recommendation-based admissions exam for elected high schools, general recruitment, and vocational schools, high schools look at students’ attitude and motivation towards studying and recognize students that have the ability to study at university. The self-recommendation admissions exam is for students who can objectively analyze and express their own various skills that they’ve acquired.
The students from elected high schools will write a short essay, and the students from general recruitment and vocational schools will write a thematic essay as part of a written exam. They are evaluated in areas such as their comprehension ability and their ability to think logically in response to essay questions.
In the interview exam, the students are evaluated on what they have done until now, what they want to do in the future, as well as their purpose for entering this university. Self-recommended students in particular undergo a longer interview than the other recommended students, and are evaluated on whether they can promote themselves responsibly.

AO Admissions Exam
Unlike other admissions policies that measure academic ability through a paper test, students are evaluated comprehensively and multilaterally on the skills they’ve acquired thus far, as well as their future potentional.
Based on the entry sheet, essay, and interview, students are evaluated in and outside of their studies, as well as on their future goals and their purpose for entering this university.

Special Admissions Exam (Working Adult, Students Returning From Overseas)
Students will write a short essay as a written exam and will be evaluated in areas such as their comprehension ability and their ability to think logically in response to essay questions. In the interview exam, students are evaluated on their goals in the future and their purpose for entering this university based on their experiences.

Special Admissions Exam (Foreign Students)
Students are evaluated on their Japanese proficiency through a written exam.
In the interview exam, students are evaluated based on their Japanese conversation skills, motivation to study in Japan, and their comprehension of Japanese culture and society.
